Wine of the Week…Les fumées blanches

Wine of the Week at Mulkerns Les Fumées Blanches
This week our Wine of the Week is Les fumées blanches Sauvignon Blanc, chosen this week as it is the favourite wine of our General Manager Kelly. This wine by Francois Lurton takes it’s name from the light morning mists which drift like white smoke over the foothill vineyards. The grape has a unique personality due to cultivation in a relatively cool microclimate, causing the grape to develop smoky, slightly pungent aromas.
Pale yellow in colour and featuring intense notes of citrus (lemon and lime) on the nose, followed by notes of boxwood, menthol and mango. This wine boasts an elegant palate, with a fine balance between a smooth attack and a fresh finish.
If you’re dining this weekend, this wine is perfect with Fish, Shellfish, Spicy Cuisine and White Meat. Pairing perfectly with our Freshly Baked Cod Fillet with Sun Dried Tomato & Herb Crust, or the Freshly Breaded Chicken Maryland with Fruit Fritters & crispy Bacon from our Bistro Menu. Pairing nicely also with a selection of the dishes from our Tapas range. If you’re cooking something different, our off-sales team are always happy to advise you on the right choice to match a particular dish.
