Showing our support for Gullion Battle

Mulkerns Eurospar provided the goodie bags for Southern Area Hospice Services’ second King of Gullion 10k challenge, which took place at Slieve Gullion Forest Park on Sunday 2nd November.
The event was a fantastic success, attended by runners from far and wide. After a misty start to the morning, the sun came out and shone on Slieve Gullion as the fearless runners completed the challenge on the mountain whose name translates to ‘Mountain of the Steep Slope’!

The Mayor of Newry and Mourne was on hand to start the race, and participants set off on a 10k route up the slopes of Slieve Gullion and back tackling the tough terrain. Runners ran the 574m to the summit of the mountain before racing back to the Courtyard. Some fun-loving and daring race participants showed up and ran the mountain in full warrior wear! Meanwhile families and friends of the runners participated in a Family Forest walk and a warrior-themed arts and crafts workshop provided by Over the Bridge Arts. Congratulations to the worthy race winners!
