Wine of the Week…Bago Amarelo Albarino

Bago Amerelo Albarino

This week we’ve chosen a product that’s brand new to our In-Store Off Sales!  Albarino is a green grape variety native to Galicia on the North Atlantic coast of Spain.  It is best known as being the key grape variety in the Rias Baixas DO, making plump white wines with peach, citrus, and mineral characters that pair perfectly with the local seafood.
This variety is acidic and displays a marine characteristic from the nearby Atlantic Ocean sometimes manifesting itself as a slight salinity, making Albarino a perfect food wine.  Vivid straw-yellow in colour with intense aromas of mango, orange and ripe apple, as well as nuances of white stone fruits.  A well-structured palate, balanced and fresh, with a rich tropical character and a lingering finish.
As this Spanish wine is new to our Off Sales this week, it’s a great opportunity to try something new.  If you are dining at home this weekend and feeling adventurous, this wine pairs nicely with Paella; or simply with Shellfish, Crab or Lobster.
If you’re cooking something different, we have a wide selection of wines available at a range of prices to suit all budgets, our off-sales team are always happy to advise you on the right choice to match a particular dish.
